Dr Jonnie Cohen
Dr Jonathan (Jonnie) Cohen BMBCh (Oxford 1998), MRCPCH, PhD
Jonnie has been a welcome addition to our Practice, working both as a generalist
and specialising in infections. He is the father of three girls
and was previously a Governor of their school. Growing up in
Leeds, he spent lots of time in youth work and informal
education, where he discovered his passion for helping children
achieve their potential.
He studied medicine at Cambridge and Oxford
Universities, before moving to London to specialise in
paediatrics. He worked in several London hospitals, including
many years at Great Ormond Street and St Mary’s. He has an MSc
(Distinction) in Clinical Paediatrics and a PhD from UCL for his
research into vaccines against pneumonia. His research has been
funded by the Medical Research Council and the Academy of
Medical Sciences. In 2015, he received a Top Teacher Award from
UCL Medical School. He has lectured on topics in childhood
infections around the world.
Jonnie is a Consultant Paediatrician and Clinical
Lead for Paediatrics at University College Hospital. His passion
for holistic care has led him to develop networks of care with
the local community, aiming to keep children out of hospital.
He is actively involved in research as an Honorary Senior
Lecturer at the UCL Institute of Child Health at Great Ormond
He is happy
to see all children, from age 28 days through to 18 years.
