Dr Inyang Takon MBBS,
MPH, MSc (Lond), MRCPCH, FRCPCH, FWACP
Dr Ian Hay Ltd is excited to welcome Dr Inyang Takon who will be
joining Dr Ben Ko in providing our Neurodevelopmental Service.
Inyang has special interest in epilepsy, tic disorders and motor
stereotypies, neurological disorders and neurobehavioural
difficulties. She also has interest in chronic neurological
disorders. Inyang is experienced in the assessment of children
with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders.
Inyang is passionate about improving care and support for
children with disabilities and developmental disorders. She has
pioneered setting up clinical networks to help reduce fragmented
care for children with developmental disorders.
Initially, Inyang undertook her undergraduate medical training
at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria and
graduated in 1988. Following her Postgraduate training in
Paediatrics in Nigeria she was awarded the Fellowship of the
West African College of Physicians in 1999. She embarked on
further Postgraduate Paediatric training in the UK working in
prestigious tertiary hospitals, Royal Hospital for Sick Children
in Edinburgh, Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and Gt. Ormond Street
Hospital for Children.
Postgraduate achievements include being awarded Masters in
Public Health at the University of Lagos, Masters in Community
Paediatrics at University College Hospital, London, MSc in
Clinical Neuropsychiatry Programme at Birmingham University and
still desiring to acquire more skills, she is currently in the
concluding phase of a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical
Education with the University of Dundee!
In 2004 Inyang was appointed to the post of Consultant Community
Paediatrician at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Welwyn Garden
City, Hertfordshire, a position she has held for the last 12
years. She Leads the ADHD service in East and North Herts, and
has worked alongside her colleagues to establish a comprehensive
specialist service for children with ADHD.
Inyang is actively involved in teaching locally, nationally and
internationally. She holds several educational roles within the
trust and the Royal College of Paediatrics She is an examiner
for the MRCPCH and DCH exams held by the Royal College of
Paediatrics and Child Health.
Inyang has been involved in Private Paediatric Service in
Hertfordshire since 2007 and the feedback from her NHS and
Private patients has been consistently excellent.
Outside the NHS and her private clinic duties, Inyang is
involved in charitable work in West Africa. She is passionate
about setting up developmental Paediatric services in West
Africa and she does collaborate with Paediatricians abroad to
carry out research and develop services.
Inyang is married with two daughters and enjoys unwinding by
cooking, listening to music and watching films.
